Wow! It's been a while since my last post. Apologies. Been busy entering a few contests and starting a full time job.
There's some good news to report. I entered the maximum of three photos in the 2015 Urbana Parks/Champaign County Camera Club photographic print competition and all three took a prize, including two first place wins and one third place. Very hard to believe I've accomplished this in only a few short years of seriously taking pictures. Shows what some good old fashioned hard work and study can do. Along with surrounding yourself with helpful and supportive friends who can push you in the right direction.
So here are the winners with brief background on each.
1st Place B&W Category
Between One and Three - Taken in Milwaukee, WI at the outdoor theater outside of the Performing Arts Center. Repetition of the seating pattern caught my eye originally. Decided to keep primary focus on one of the numbered seats and blur the rest.
3rd Place B&W Category
End of the Line - Taken in downtown Champaign, IL in a back alley. I have a thing for lonely chairs and this one fit the bill perfectly. Abandoned and awaiting the trash collector. Some initially think there is a person on the ground, but that's not true. I do like that it evokes a response which is why it's one of my favorites.
1st Place General Category
Buckle Up - This colorful photo was taken in Champaign, IL. I had been attending car shows all summer in 2014 and met some awesome people. One of them allowed me to shoot their ride and this photo came out of that series. It's a seatbelt from a 1966 Pontiac StarChief. The pop of red against blue is stunning!
Thanks to all who support & follow me. 2014 was a fun year for photos and rewards are starting to flow in for the beginning of 2015. Sometime soon I'll post another story about my winning photo for the CUMTD contest. Cheers!
