Hello and welcome to a new year! 2017 is already off to a good start. I have new images to share and for the first time it's actually a themed set of photographs.
Very late in 2016, literally late in the year and at night, the Allerton Park Photography Group gathered to take images of the grounds decorated for Christmas. It was crazy cold out but good company and a good photo opportunity kept me warm. We all went our separate ways to find the perfect shot and practice our long exposure skills. It's not often I shoot at night so I appreciated being able to brush the dust off my brain and put it to work.
Once I returned home and started developing the photos in Lightroom I realized I wasn't completely happy with what I saw. The images themselves were technically fine. They just didn't have that pop I was looking for. You know how it is, maybe with house shopping or car shopping, etc, you just know what you like when you see it. I'm the same way. Sounds a little corny but the images speak to me as I'm developing them and they call out to be treated a certain way. Anyway, these photos called out to be black & white. Despite my original assumption that colorful lights would make colorful photos I went the black & white route and couldn't be happier. And because Allerton Park & Mansion are very old I thought it'd be neat to imagine these photos were taken during Chirstmas a long time ago so the series title is Allerton Park Christmas 1945. Enjoy!
